Are Home Pregnancy Tests Trustworthy?

by Bernard Bowers

Nowadays, woman wait a very short amount of time to find out if they are pregnant. Women who want to find out if their pregnant fast and in the privacy of their home will use a home pregnancy test. The tests are pretty inexpensive now and can be easily found both in stores that sell over-the-counter drugs and online where they are even less expensive.

Understanding a Home Pregnancy Test

A hormone known as HCG, human chorionic gonadotropin, releases in the female body when impregnation is taking place. The level of detection of the hormone will intensify through the advancement of the pregnancy. When the egg becomes fertilized and is embedded in the lining of the uterine wall the HCG hormone is simultaneously released.

To increase accuracy in the pregnancy test wait until your first period is missed and the HCG hormone levels will be higher if you are pregnant. Clarity of results can be guaranteed when the HCG hormone is stronger. Home pregnancy tests rather resemble a thermometer in size and length. The best way to perform the test is to dunk the tester into a clean cup holding morning urine. There are different instructions to testing urine with different tests. Test are different in their own ways even though they present the same concept. Some brands of home testing units require the urine to be combined with a powder which will change in color to indicate pregnancy.

A negative result does not always mean there is no pregnancy?

It is possible, but not guaranteed. When the test was taken it may have been too early in your pregnancy. The test should be retaken if your period is still missing. The result can be marked negative if it is positive and has protein or blood in the sample. Many medicines can effect the result of a pregnancy test.

Consulting a physician is the best option if a home pregnancy test does not seem accurate. Doctors will provide accurate outcomes.

Clarifying a Pregnancy Test:

Home pregnancy tests often boast that they are almost completely accurate even if done on the day that the period was to begin. Early pregnancies often cannot be detected by home pregnancy tests.

The best results happen when you follow the directions of the test you choose by the letter. Be patient and wait the proper amount of time when using a home test to view results. Not waiting the correct amount of time will alter your results.

Try to do your test the first thing in the morning as your first urine is the strongest and will show more of any HCG hormone if it is present.
