How To Take Better Pictures

by Dorsey T. Emanus

Taking pictures helps people see how beautiful the world can be. With hard work and a bit of luck, you can become a great photographer. In this article you will learn some tips that can help you build skill as a photographer.

Twenty to one is the usual ratio. That is, most people take twenty shots and get one good one. Be sure and don't through out the bad shots because they have a lot to teach you.

When you are taking pictures of people, arrange it so that the background is just a slight bit blurry. A non-burry background detracts from your subject. Putting some distance between you subject and background can help by getting viewers to see the subject more clearly.

Viewers should be able to clearly see the subject of each photo you take. There's plenty of room for creativity and personal expression in photographs, but you need to keep your subject in clear focus so that viewers know what they're looking at. Particularly when you are just beginning, you should try and have your subject in the center of your pictures. Allow the background to remain as it is.

Get in close to your subject. Use the zoom feature of your camera, or get physically closer for the shot. Let the subject completely fill the frame if you like. If there is too much in the background, it will make the regular picture too cluttered. When you get closer to a subject, the interesting details and character of a shot pop out.

Birthdays, weddings, vacations and so on are just a few of the events that you can use your photographic abilities to capture. How knows, you might even get good enough to earn a living taking pictures. It can often take many years of learning and experience in order to get good enough to make a living. The cool thing about photography is that you have fun along the way, while you are paying your dues. How cool is that? Don't for get about getting a good camera. You need to make sure your camera suites your needs depending on your level of skill as a photographer.
