Like other forms of art, if your composition is lacking, then the outcome will not be the best. Composition requires you to find lines and patterns in your images. Learning about it will truly improve the quality of your photos.

Some good advice is to be sure to actively search out other photographers, and look at their work for inspiration. Their photos will help you remember that there are different ways that you can take a picture of a particular subject.

Decide what aspects of your subject you want to capture in your photograph. An excellent photo will function like a little window, showing a moment in time for your subject. Don't try to crowd too many things into the picture. If you want to give a more general impression of something, take a series of pictures, rather than a single photograph with no real focus or details.

Silhouettes are a wonderful photography technique. There are other ways beside the sun to create a type of silhouette. Any time that brightness in a backdrop exceeds that of the subject, a silhouette will be created. You can achieve this effect by using a rear-mounted flash or by having the subject stand near a window facing east around 9 A.M. Occasionally, this type of shot might have a face or body outline that is less than flattering.

Use limits to help yourself focus in on a subject and be more creative You could restrict yourself to taking pictures intended to represent one concept (like "sweetness") all day, for instance. Take that goal one step further, by take 100 different and unique photos of the same subject, or in confined quarters. By placing limitations on yourself and your photography, you can sharpen your creative skills and work outside of the box.

As you know, photography can be an excellent tool for recording those special moments before they disappear forever. Simple photos are often the most beloved treasures.
