Guideline to Sketch Face

by Denetor Ectellion

In general, each and everyone want to sketch better face. These tips and guidelines provided here can prove to be handy for you to make your face more realistic. Also for showing better expression, these can be effective. For drawing more accurate portrait, you can achieve knowledge from here.

At first, you must realize that face is portion of your head. In addition, face will count as quarter part of head. To sketch face, lots of artists at first sketch an oval shape and after that place faint mark for understanding the halfway portion. Some artists also measure this visually. Eyes must be placed at center of oval shape. And also this line should be placed at the center of the eyes of portrait. In addition, this must intersect the iris.

At next, you have to draw the eyebrows. You have to draw this a bit above the place of eye. For the full eye and a little portion of eyelid you should keep space before doing this. Also you should keep that thing in mind that the eyebrows are little wider than eyes. If you are going to do any stylish portrait, you can add some special effect by making the eyebrows a bit shorter and a bit higher than its usual position.

Your next challenge should be to find out the middle point of top part of the eyebrows. This should generally be placed at the bottom portion of oval shape. At this halfway portion, the nostrils will be placed. Even you can omit these nostrils in stylish portraits. But you need to understand the position of nose to complete this drawing perfectly. A slight stroke of your pen can be enough. For drawing anime images, this can be indicated by simple flat lines. Also in the cartoons, you have surely watched that noses look like balloons with small swelling at sides.

After reading the previous portion, now you must get an idea about the positioning of nose. At next, we will look forward to the positioning of the mouth. The top of mouth should be in between nostril and chin. You can indicate both the upper and lower lip in the stylish images. This mouth can be placed perfectly with a spread out "V". Halfway to the lips with little curve will show the upper left part and large round curve bottom will indicate the lower lip.

The positioning of ear is the next matter of concern. Hiding those with the heir can be possible. But to draw a man or boy, it is a must to show a line to indicate the ears or to show at least one ear. Below the line of eyebrows, there should be the starting of ear and just below to the tip of nostril there should be the ending.

After all of these measurements, it you are looking at real people, you will be astonished after watching the asymmetry of their face. It might seem dramatic to you. Someone's left eye might be a lot bigger than the left. The same thing can happen about ears. This asymmetry can be helpful while drawing real portraits. But these differences should not be pronounced unless you are trying to draw grotesque.
