Being a casual player has it's ups and downs; I find myself unable to play LOTRO as often as I'd like. I was excited to join a guild but quickly learned how dedicated and intense some players can be. Despondant but not deafed, I searched google for some sort of leveling guide that would show me where to go alone to make some quick progress.
Due to the fact that I couldn't log on at prime time with my friends, I was forced to kill random monsters if the quests I were on proved too difficult. Leveling alone had to be a viable choice as many others were doing just fine with it; I decided to look around for some sort of guide to help me out. Found one that suited me and went for it; I must say I was impressed.
The guide was sending me in the desirable places, places I would have never thought to look into. The whole concept of the guide was to help casual players reach level 60 without having to depend on others. Of course there were group quests as well, sooner or later you do find a group and you can finish them then if you choose so. I reckon what I'm trying to say is that no matter how long you play per day or how frequent, your results will still be as those of a player which can afford to spend more time than you online.
All the guides did were point me to areas where I could knock out three or four quests at the same time. Knowing when to fight a monster that has attacked you is key to being an efficient leveler and staying ahead of the curve. Don't forget to use your personal horse as often as possible to increase your traveling speed.
It's my opinion that a well written solo leveling guide for LOTRO can make a huge difference for the casual players like myself. You'll get that warm, accomplished feeling that MMO's are famous for as opposed to feeling like you wasted two hours doing nothing. I hope I shed some light on to these guides as they truly are the solution for a casual player such as myself.
