Diesel engines have one pesky byproduct. That is in the form of soot which is made up of materials from the fuel that were not burned during the combustion process. As a vehicle gets older, it tends to produce more soot because its efficiency is greatly decreased. When it escapes to the atmosphere these materials can cause a great amount of pollution. One of the best ways that this is to be prevented is through the use of a diesel particulate filter or a dpf. This filter is made from a highly porous material with a honeycombed structure. This device catches soot and other materials in the exhaust and allows air to just pass through normally.
Makers of vehicles have included the dpf in the make and the design of their vehicle in compliance with some of the laws dealing with car emissions and environmental impact. Some vehicle owners prefer that this device be removed from their vehicle. One reason for this is because of safety. There has been some cases of fire in the vehicle that were caused by a defective dpf causing fuel to leak.
There are additional reasons why you might want your vehicle to have a dpf removal. A common complaint against the device is that it can cause a vehicle to limp when it becomes defective. The dashboard of a vehicle will also light up when it detects that the dpf is not functioning in the right way.
Another reason why car owners would want the dpf on their vehicle removed is because it prevents the normal flow of exhaust of a vehicle which can cause its fuel flow to be affected as well. Generally it affects the overall performance of your vehicle.
If you are one of those who would want the dpf on their vehicle to be removed then you better let a professional do it for you so you can be sure that it will not affect
