Baby Shower Decorations You Can Make At Home
by Brittany Schmidt
Here are some simple, quick and easy ways to make baby shower decorations in the comfort of your own home.
Baby Christmas Tree
Buy a small Christmas tree and decorate it with blue or pink lights and garland. This simple idea makes a great focal point for the room. Ask each guest to bring in "ornaments" for the baby to hang on the tree. Guests should bring small items, such as bibs, socks, rattles, pacifiers and shoes.
A Clothesline Onesies
A very unique and easy functional decoration is to hang a clothesline across the room and pin wooden clothespins onto the rope. Start off the clothesline by hanging a few little outfits on display. As the mommy-to-be opens up her gifts, hang each outfit she receives for the baby on the clothesline.
Hanging Heart
For a simple door decoration, cut a heart out of cardboard and hang it on the front of the door, using ribbon, where the baby shower is taking place.
Diaper Building Blocks
Wrap boxes of diapers in colorful wrapping paper. Using a marker, draw large letters on the side of the boxes, so they end up looking like alphabet building blocks that kids play with. Spell out the baby's name or any other baby related word. This decoration is also a useable gift.
Baby Shower Wreath
Take and old wire hanger and shape it into a circle. Attach disposable diapers to the wire hanger by wrapping rubber bands around the diapers and the wire. Do this all the way around until it looks like a wreath. Next, decorate the diaper wreath with pacifiers and little baby socks.
Display Blanket
The blanket that the baby comes home wrapped in is a very important blanket. If the mom-to-be has chosen the blanket before the baby shower, have it on display for all the guests to see. Take care of the blanket and make sure nothing gets spilled on it, especially if it's a blanket passed down in the family.
Balloons/Balloon Animals
Use a stuffed animal toy for the baby as a balloon weight by tying all of the balloons to that stuffed animal. If you'd rather, get specific balloons that can be twisted into balloon animals and leave them around the room. If you don't want to try your hand at balloon animal making, simply buy regular balloons and tape on paper legs, arms, ears, tails and trunks.
