Sprucing Up Your Collection With Western Antique Pieces And Memorabilia

by Paul Budde

Ordinary collectibles differ from the Western antique in one respect. The former are collected for the sake of personal belonging while the latter is sought for their connections with history and the past. It is this desire to be one with the time that defined the present status that has made it so unique.

One could consider the person who has hobbies as one who is concerned about a lot of things in life. He pursues many objectives and comes in contact with many different people who are involved in a lot of different things. This kind of social intermingling brings him into the social vortex where his voice counts. People who do nothing have a lot of leisure time. It is the time when one relaxes, contemplates future action and plans for the future.

Activities done in the leisure time is different. Consider the case of a butterfly. The one who is having leisure studies, maybe photographs these delightful creatures where as the one who is passionate about collecting butterflies, captures them with a net, drugs them and then preserves their bodies for posterity. Though it sounds cruel, there are worse things.

Hobbies drive a person to do something. It is like the sunshine in the morning and the sunset. It forces a decision out of the people who are going through it. Collecting rare items, common ticket stubs bird watching and star gazing make up for the majority of the hobbies. It is an addiction, which is entirely personal.

People collect for reasons which are entirely their own. Bowie knife or marbles, Old leather jackets or coins, the reason is only known to those who are collecting these precious items. Many of the objects come from people who were instrumental or caused changes in history and other items were from famous entertainers and public figures. Photographs and autographs also form a part of the collectibles.

Life is a continuous effort to regain the position in the eyes of ones neighbors. When you possess the rare piece of jewelry or the rare antique, you are one step ahead of your neighbor. This is the motivation for a lot of people who wish to project themselves as someone important in society. This is also the reason why social events have so much glitter and glamour. The persons who are attending the event want to show that they are more important.

When you possess something unique like a leather jacket worn by the person who created a mark in history, people turn their eyes towards you. You become famous. And this feeling is contagious. It spreads to all who come in contact with it. They also now want something that is out of the way.

Collecting Western antique is a passion for those who like the great old days when the west was alive. It was those days of gun battle, gold prospecting and hunting in the wild. For the people who have memories, these are treasures. For those who want to belong, this is one of the gateways.
