It used to seem to most that if someone was into dragon figurines they were kids who played fantasy role playing games. While that particular group of people will surely like those types of items there are a much larger segment of the population that will enjoy them as well. This fantasy creature is one that appears in a great deal of stories, myths, and games so there is no wonder everyone loves them.
The creature has gained a lot of respect over the years for a variety of reasons. In the realm of the fantasy world they are the most powerful, most majestic, and most feared and respected of all that exist. They are very large and very strong, on top of that they breathe fire and can destroy anything in their path.
This is probably why the people who tend to collect them are so diverse. People who collect other things are generally of the same race, social standing, or culture. It just seems that everyone loves these mythological creatures.
This is true even though they are mythical creatures and never truly existed. Some might say that the dinosaurs are the reason that people a very long time ago claim to have seen them. They say that because they have found dinosaur bones at some point that they have pointed to such finds as proof of the stories that were told. We know today however that is not the case.
Dragons are probably the most powerful living thing in the world in these stories. They are very large, they breathe fire, and they fly. They are almost indestructible yet in many of these stories Kings send their Knights off to find and kill the dragons to save the Kingdom. In some stories they succeed but in most they fail.
Sometimes those who collect them also collect wizards. It is well known that wizards and dragons go hand in hand. This is probably because both of them are mythical and magical creatures. Both have made appearances in various moves and shows. They even appear in a lot of popular video games as well. Anytime there is magic or a fantasy world to design, dragons are always a great addition.
There are also a lot of people who enjoy drawing them too. This is mainly because they just look so menacing. If they are made with a lot of detail and the artist has considerable talent they can turn out rather well. If done right they are really nice and very fierce looking. Anyone who likes them would be proud to have a drawing like that framed and hung on a wall somewhere in their home.
The drawing and such might be considered "cool" but the dragon figurines are really where its at. Made from wood or even made from metal they can be very detailed or they can have softer, rounder edges. They can even be geared more towards children and instead of looking mean and strong, they can look happy and nice. There are a lot of variations but no matter which one it is everyone loves dragons.
