Having a dog can truly enrich one's life: Those big, cute eyes, the wagging tail, the happy face when we come home. How much better does it get? Dogs bring more happiness and joy to the house than any toy could.
They have tons of energy that makes them very playful and on the go. Taking care of your pet is a huge responsibility. You should have enough food, water and other supplies to meet their needs.
Another thing that you should keep in mind is your dog's behavior. A lot of dog owners find their pets constantly jumping at people due to excitement and this can pose danger in the future.
You have probably asked yourself more than once how you can correct this misbehavior. To begin with, it might be helpful to understand why dogs jump on people. Most often this is the case because the dog is simply very excited. Unfortunately, if he jumps up on a child, for example, the consequences could be serious.
So this really means that you need to teach him to stop it. You could go about it the following way: Instead of welcoming his gesture, simply turn away as he is about to jump. Then ignore him.
If you are persistent in this approach your dog will learn that he does not gain anything from jumping up on you. You will only ignore him, which is something he does not like.
You have to show him that you are the leader and that the dog will not be rewarded if he or she misbehaves.
Only return your attention to him when he is back to behaving himself. Let him settle down and only then reward him with a treat and your attention.
Dogs are amazingly smart pets, and your dog will not take long to figure out that behaving well will get him his desired reward. Misbehavior, in contrast, will get him nothing. So in order for this to work, you will need to be really persistent on that point.
