The advantages of knowing your birth chart is a method of a deep understanding of yourself and your life. essentially a reading examines the patterns of one's real self-expression. It also shows your talents and latent abilities that must be developed. Focusing more on your strengths will help deepen your insights. Why it is not Enough.
Knowing and learning about your energy patterns within your birth chart can be your best asset. It is like you've been given new tools or a map that gives you better direction that somehow connects inside your inner being. That said, it is like any info or knowledge, you have to work with it and apply it! Awareness of a thing doesn't automatically improve it, you should understand how a certain energy or aspect has worked inside your life then start to work consciously with it, so that it's utilized by you additional productively.
Example:
I have a Mars/Saturn conjunction in my chart, that may be not an simple partnership, as Mars is about action, having what you want, becoming self-assertive and competitive. Saturn will often delay and slow down any globe it touches, as this energy is about discipline, boundaries and own responsibility. Mars is so eager to get going, to get elements done, especially as mine is in its personal domain with the first house. In so creating I am clumsy, like a bull inside a china shop, and I make quite a few mistakes, which I need to redo! In essence I try to run ahead of I can walk!

Now by working consciously with these planets, I am learning to structure my energy far more effectively in time and organization, for that reason I am additional productive.
