Whether the pilot flies alone or has passengers, safety will always be important. It is the duty and responsibility of every pilot, private or commercial, to make sure that each flight they partake on will be safe and sound. All pilots are not only required, but is responsible to learn how to make each flight the safest as it can be and be prepared for whatever scenario may happen. It is not surprising that so many things can go wrong in a flight and there is no question on how dangerous it is. Prevention is better than cure when it comes to aviation.
Of course, there are factors that would more or less be a big problem in your flight but being prepared for whatever scenario that may arise will definitely increase your chances of having a safe flight when you follow some common guidelines that have been proven time and time again by both private and commercial pilots all around the world. Here are some tips.
Prepare a good pre-flight briefing. A pre-flight is very important in preparing for every private pilot flight. With a preflight briefing, you can inform your pilots about the right reactions every situation that arise. This way, you can prevent them from panicking and ultimately hinder your capabilities as well as distract you from concentrating on your responsibilities as pilot. A good pre-flight briefing will also teach passengers how to avoid injury in the event of a crash landing.
Patience is the key, never be too much of in a hurry to get the aircraft off the ground. You have to make sure to pre-flight your aircraft and make sure you are checking the engines; landing gear and all the other hardware are functioning normally and will not fail you during the course of the flight. This is a matter of life and death during a crisis up there in the skies.
While being brave is a cool and admirable thing, it does not go well in aviation. Always avoid being a daredevil. If there is anything that you have not been cleared or qualified to be able to do, then do not do it. Do not risk an accident just because you want to have a little fun or have become a little too overconfident. Even a pilot must keep feet on the ground and not let everything go to his head or else it will have disastrous results.
