Using an Autoresponder with Your Lead Generation Website

A lead generation website is one that encourages a visitor to make an investigation or opt in to receive more information about services and goods.

When setting up a new website for the needs of lead generation, or evolving a site that doesn't have an opt-in box, consideration should be made when choosing an email follow-up program.

There are many wonderful firms that will handle all of your mails and these programs can be engineered to send out a collection of pre-written messages as soon as someone signs up.

In most situations you can choose to require a double opt-in process to provide help in protecting both you and your prospects from getting penalized due to spam mail complaints or not. I have found requiring prospects to confirm their request for detailed information significantly decreases the number of leads you'll ultimately get.

You may also wish to write your follow-ups to provide high value content - not only a sales pitch. Think it over. How long do you stay subscribed to amail list that offers nothing less than a crass sales message every two days?

Consider also the information you ask for when you design your opt-in box. Folk do not like giving out too much info at first, but always get the subscriber's first and last names and you can have a box for any other information pertinent to your business.

For instance, you could have a drop down box that lists the products on your site and from you can find out specifically what info your customer is attempting to find. If you have 6 different products you can then build 6 different list within your email programme and target information and other products especially to those folks.

Whenever you set up autoresponders or any sort of email campaign, it's important that your emails are checked and checked again. Many folks are not impressed by typos, and even more won't read an e-mail that may be a mile long. Make your emails exact and to the point, and drafted in short paragraphs, in simply digestible chunks.

Once your list has grown to a respectable size, you can also send out a once per month newsletter, informing customers about new goods and services you have added.

Address your customer by his first name, not "dear customer" as is frequently seen, and write your copy as if you're writing to a friend, don't blind customers with "get this" or "buy this", it turns folks off. The most effective way effect a sale is by helping folk, by giving them important info and anything free is usually good, for instance a free electronic book.

Ensure that everything you send your customer is important and of price. If your "unsubscriber" list builds too fast, that may be a sure sign you do something wrong, although you will always get some individuals that unsubscribe.

So understand that your auto-responder and the mails you send out are at the heart of your lead generation website. You would not have a lead generation website without it. So spend some time modifying and refining this side of your system. Don't just toss out some e-mail pitches. Relate. Form a relationship. Ask for feedback and collusion.
