Looking To Purchase A Bike? A City Bike Should Be Your First Thought

by Kyle Piraino

When I wanted to buy a new bike, the Internet was the place that I looked to first. I needed something to invest in and I wanted a new way to get around, so a new bicycle was where I landed. It was a much more difficult process then I thought, mostly because of the amount of different types of bikes that you can buy. There are mountain bikes, racing bikes, and many other types that I had never even heard of.

There are so many different types, I did not know which one to look at. I didn't know if I should get a mountain bike in order to have a lot of gears and thick tires, or a city bike that allows you to cruise through the city on a lightweight bike.

I still wasn't sure which type of bike to use, so I started researching the different types to see which bike was most appropriate for my situation. What I found was that although there were dozens of types, there were only a couple that were appropriate for me. I started to look the mountain bike selection being that it seemed like the most popular type. Although it is a very sturdy bike, it was a little too much for what I would want to do with it.

Racing bikes were my next place of research, and for the second time it seemed they were not quite what I was looking for. They were more for someone that needed to go very fast on completely flat terrain with no debris in the way. Living in the city, it was unlikely that I would never run over anything without knowing it. I finally landed on a hybrid bike from Linus Bikes. It was the perfect combination of toughness and speed that allowed you to know you could run over glass while still having a lighter bike that doesn't take as much effort to get around.

I finally got my city bike and it was perfect. It had the lighter frame of a speed bike but was still heavy enough to take a little bit of a beating. The tires were also thick enough to withstand the wear and tear of city streets, being able to run over glass and the such. This ended up being perfect and was a great investment.
