Enjoy Candy From Year Gone By

For centuries, people have enjoyed sweet treats in the form of candy. The sweet flavor of candy started many years in the past However, the flavor of it today is as pleasant to us as it was to people who enjoyed the first candies. You can enjoy reminiscing by consuming some of the candy that is old fashion brands still sold in the present.
Many types of candy are involved in this assortment ranging from hard candy to mints. A company that has survived throughout the years, in fact since 1842, making candy is Whitman's. The company Whitman's has been manufacturing candy since 1842. The Whitman's sampler box of various chocolates is the one of the best-known products they sell.
Such other candies as in the candy canes, butter mints, and candy corn also date back before 1920. I bet you did not realize these candies have been around for more than 90 years. You can also see hard butterscotch discs made by Brach's in this same group.
Let's move on to the 1920s and examine some of the retro style candy of this time period. Bit-O-Honey, Baby Ruth and Abba-Zaba are a few great candies that came on in the 1920s and are still sold now. Other popular names today are Charleston In fact, these were highly popular for years beyond the 1920s.
Chunky, 5th Avenue and 3 Musketeers are some of the popular brands of the 1930s. Caramels, candy buttons and Kit Kat bars are some other examples for this decade.
Now, for the candy of the 1940s you will see such things as Almond Joy, Bazooka Bubble Gum, and the original Dots. Dots used to have the name Mason Dots. These are assorted flavors of chewy, gum drops packed together in one box. This decade also saw the creation of M & M's. Whoppers came out in the 1940s and are malted milk balls that have been dipped in chocolate.
Candy necklaces, Bonomo's Turkish Taffy, Hot Tamales, Jolly Rancher candies, and Fizzies, among other ones were enjoyed in the 1950s. Starburst, Now & Later, Good & Fruity, Astro Pops, and Swedish Fish were products of the 1960s.
More tasty fare hit the candy scene during the 1970s. Candies and gums such as Blow Pops, Big Red Gum, Hershey's Special Dark Bar, the uniquely-flavored Jelly Belly beans, and Gobstoppers also were brought out in the seventies. We also must mention Lik-M-Aid Fun Dip powder, Laffy Taffy, Pop Rocks, and Reese's Pieces.
With the eighties the chewy tangy Airheads appeared on the market and had the consistency of taffy. Caramello is another for this decade that was a bar of milk chocolate divided into four sections with each filled with smooth creamy caramel. Some more beloved sweets of the 1980s include Smarties, Gummi Bears, Skittles, Sour Patch Kids, and Nerds.
You probably noticed that these vintage candies date offer a varied flavor assortments, as well as date from before 1920 through the 1990s. The candies ranged from the totally unique to yummy chocolate. From powdered sweets for licking to chocolate that melted in your mouth could be found. Now, the nice thing is that you can still buy your favorite type of old time candy.
