Teddy bears have been around for hundreds of years and even date back to the Victorian era. Many people collect teddy bears and have extensive collections of these toys. Some of them carry hefty prices and collectors often trade with their teddies online. Avid collectors around the world find great pleasure in visiting the numerous teddy museums.
One can now find teddy clubs, where people gather to show off their favorite bears. These soft toys are beautiful and many of them are turning out to be quite valuable. You will be able to find many bears with more realistic features, and some even wear reading glasses.
Bears are stuffed with high quality cloth, or in some cases with plastic beads which give them more flexibility to move. The real teddy has a jointed body with round ears and a longish snout. Different toy makers make their teddies differently, giving them a longer body and shorter legs.
You can find bears that are dressed up in a variety of different outfits, doing various things. Teddies are just another way of offering a nice message to someone when they are in need of a good and kind word. Children's stories of bears are very popular and most tales with bears result in a toy of the animal being produced, such as Paddington, Winnie the Pooh and many more. These soft toys just never seem to date and have been around for many years.
The story of the teddy came about when Teddy Roosevelt went on a hunting trip and refused to shoot a black bear which they had caught. After this hunting episode, it became a bit of a joke in the local newspaper and the animal then became known as the teddy.
