Some time ago, we determined we really needed to find a pool service. Originally we believed we would cut costs from working on our own pool.
Going swimming turned out to be a part-time job. Almost each time we swam we would wash the walls, examine for algae growth and clean out the filter, and so on. On top of that we would wash once or twice every week, plus we used up lots of time at the pool shop getting our water analyzed. One particular weekend we couldn't clear away the algae regardless of the things we tried. Straight after scrubbing and continually shocking and putting chlorine and algacide in only to get our water examined to find out we still had an out of balance and algae-loaded pool and a lighter wallet, we determined it seemed to be worth it to find a pool service.

Some may say they give you "full" services and do small work to make it seem like they may be fully servicing the pool, but then end up charging you more once your pool becomes green as they then will toss in more chemicals and scrub with greater regularity to make up for the not enough assistance they said they offered. I wanted to make sure to obtain a fair and trustworthy pool service company. Fortunately local friends and the net supplied a lot of evaluations to give a basic idea of the "good" companies and the "bad" companies to work with.
