Barbie Cooking & Dress Up Girl Games

Girls have loved playing with Barbie since the late 1950s. Today, girls continue to love imaginative play with Barbie and play cooking and dress up games during parties. Invite Barbie to be part of your daughter's next birthday party. Set the scene for each girl to cook with Barbie or include Barbie-inspired party games that will get the girls giggling.

Dress Barbie Relay: Create a relay race where each girl has to undress a Barbie doll, give her a bath, then re-dress her. The girls race against each other, and the first girl with a fully dressed Barbie wins the challenge. Give each girl a small bowl of water to bathe the doll and a towel to dry her off. Each player has a Barbie wearing an identical set of clothing that includes a top, pants and shoes.

Pass the Purse: Select your child's fanciest Barbie purse and play a purse-passing game that mimics classic game hot potato. Have the girls sit in a circle and pass the purse around the circle while music plays. When the music suddenly stops, the person holding the purse is out of the circle. Continue playing until you have a winner who gets to pass out the prizes and candy hidden inside the purse to all the girls.

Cake Baking: This game gives girls a chance to make their own birthday cupcake and bring home a small Barbie doll. The girls can use their magination and creativity to frost and create their own Barbie birthday cake. You'll need an 18.5 box of yellow cake mix (and oil and eggs if the cake mix requires it), premade frosting and one small new Barbie for each girl. Purchase plenty of cake decorating "accessories" such as small candies, sprinkles and small tubes of frosting so the girls can make create flowers, swirls or write on their cake.

Mix and bake the cupcakes according to the instructions. When they are cool, flip each cupcake upside down. Cut a small hole on the top of each (through the paper holder) and have the girls place the clean Barbie inside. Ask the girls frost their cupcake to create a frosting dress. Give everyone ample time to get her cupcake "dolled up" with frosting and candy. Sing "Happy Birthday" to the birthday girl and let the girls eat their cupcakes. They can take the Barbie home as a favor.
