How to Play Girls' Makeover Games

Most little girls love dressing up, putting on makeup, jewelery and high-heeled shoes. You can turn this fascination into a fun game that your child can play with her friends for birthday and slumber parties, or any other such event where little girls are present. The rules for makeover games aren't set in stone; there are plenty of options for play whether you have a group of five girls or a group of 20. The objective of this girls' makeover game is to determine which girl undergoes the biggest transformation.
Split the girls up into groups of 2. Fill several cardboard box with dress up games such as: clothing, shoes, makeup, wigs and jewelry.
Give each group a box of clothing, shoes, makeup and other dress up supplies. Allow the girls to trade items if desired.
Set a timer for 10 minutes. Have the first girl in each group pick out an outfit for the second and then do the girl's hair and makeup. Let them know they can be as silly or crazy as they want. The objective is to achieve the biggest transformation. Once the 10 minutes are up, have each pair switch so that the second girl is now styling the first girl's new look.
Give each pair of girls a disposable camera and allow them to photograph the other in their new styles. Encourage creativity. Hand out a few fashion magazines to inspire the girls' photos. If possible, take the photos outside in order to take advantage of the best lighting conditions for disposable cameras. If the weather doesn't cooperate, or it's night time, take photos in the brightest room in the house.
Take the girls to a one-hour photo developer to have the photos developed, but don't let them see the pictures until they're back home. Have each pair select three to five "favorites" of their own photos and display them. They can line them all up on the floor; pin them to a corkboard or tape them to the fridge and gather the girls around. Take a vote for "biggest transformation." Make sure the girls know they can't vote for themselves or their partner.
Give a door prize to the girl who gets the most votes for biggest transformation. Make sure you have a participant prize for all the other girls so no one feels left out. Send the photos home with the girls when the party's over. The girls and their parents will probably get a kick out of the photos for years to come.

Hair Makeover Games

Hair makeovers have been the staple of the American girl sleepover for decades. The notion of getting to re-do your friend's do sends many little and big girls into a frenzy of delight. Create a fun hair makeover game for your daughter's next sleepover that will generate lots of giggles and laughs. Hair makeovers aren't just for kids---spice up your next ladies night out event with a hilarious dress up games.
Blind Hairdo: If you've ever done your hair in the dark, you'd understand how difficult it is to get your style right. Create a hilarious game where the girls are blindfolded and have to style their friend's hair.
Play the game where you create different hair scenarios on index cards such as "create a hairstyle for prom" or "design the perfect do for prison." Toss the cards in a hat and allow the girls to randomly choose one.
Allow the stylist to select a partner or "victim." She cannot tell her partner which hair style she is about to perform. Grab hair accessories and a blindfold and let the blindfolded stylist exercise her creative freedom on her partner's hair.
Include fun items such as wash-out colored hairspray, sparkles, hair pieces and big bows. Don't let the stylist's partner watch in the mirror, she can only look at the other guest's reactions as she is transformed. While the stylist is performing the hairdo, ask the guests to shout out the occasion for the hairdo. Whoever figures it out first wins a small prize.
You'll have a bunch of funny-looking guests by the time the party ends. Award a prize to the craziest hairdo.
Hairdo Relay: Divide the girls into teams of two for a hairdo relay race. Sit the teams on one end of the room and set up each team's supplies on the other end. Each team should have the same amount of hair accessories, brushes, combs, wash-out colored hair spray, gel, hats and hair pieces.
Create hairstyle descriptions on several index cards. Include step-by-step instructions for each style. Mix the cards up in a hat and ask each team to select one card.
One team member is the stylist and the other team member is the customer. The customer must stay on the other side of the room throughout the game. The stylist can only bring back one item at a time to style the customer's hair.
Announce "go" and have the stylist race to one side of the room and select a styling tool. The stylist must race back to the customer, then race back over to the other side and grab the next tool.
Once the stylist has all the tools, she can perform the hair style according to the description on the card. The first team with the finished hairdo wins.

How to Do Makeover Games for Little Kids

Little girls love to play dress up games and play with their mothers' makeup and perfumes. If your daughter is itching for some more makeover fun, consider putting together a makeover game she can play by herself or with her friends. Using items like lipsticks, hair ribbons and costume pieces, little girls can have hours of fun making each other over. Makeover games would be ideal for a birthday party or sleepover.
Turn a cardboard box with a lid into a makeover costume chest. A box used to store reams of printer paper works well. Paint the outside of the box a color like pink or purple and let dry. Let the kids help decorate the box with items like markers, stencils, sequins and stickers.
Fill the box with costume pieces and costume jewelry. Add items like dresses, hats, feather boas, high-heeled shoes, beaded necklaces, rings and fans.
Collect some inexpensive makeup and place in a shoe box. Check dollar stores for cheap lipsticks and eye shadows. Place some hair accessories in the shoe box as well, like ribbons, scrunchies, clips, hairbands and hair brushes. Place the shoe box inside the dress-up chest.
Give the chest to a group of girls and let them take turns pulling out various items to create different looks.
Give the girls challenges, like making themselves over to look like their favorite Disney princess, movie star or pop idol. Let the girls put makeup on each other or set up a hair and makeup station where you can be the stylist.
Move furniture to the sides of a room and let the girls do a runway walk to show off their look. Put on music in the background to give it an authentic, fashion show feel.
Take photos of the girls as they do their runway walk, acting like paparazzi. Have the girls pose together for a group photo showing off all their makeovers.
Give out prizes for categories like "Most Original Outfit" or "Wackiest Costume." Prizes can be anything from candy to small toys.

How to Create Makeover Games

A makeover game is a fun and creative activity played by young girls, especially during events such as birthday parties. This type of game gives girls a chance to be creative and make themselves beautiful, while the parents let the girls have their own say in how they are dressing, doing their hair or makeup. Makeover games can be followed by other special events such as tea parties, princess book readings, or watching a fashion-based movie, such as those starring Barbie.
Think of objectives that would be fun for the age group of girls. For example, the girls could run a relay race involving a quick makeover or take their time doing their own makeovers before enjoying a relaxing tea party.
Decide who should do the making over. A group of girls could perform one makeover for the guest-of-honor or they can be paired up and give makeovers to each other. You could also have all the girls make over themselves.
Make three stations for the makeover with enough room for everyone. One station should be designated for the makeup and hair, one station should be designated for clothes, and the last station should be designated for the accessories. You can make more stations if you like, but these are the bare minimum stations that should be in place.
Set up the event happening along with the makeover or the event that will follow the makeover. For example, for a makeover race, outline the race in the yard with markers for the path. Then put one or two tables at random intervals with a specific type of object, such as accessories. Then the race will be complete as the girls run the race, put on one item from each station, and cross the finish line. An example of an event following the makeover would be a tea party. For a tea party, set up cups and saucers, tea pot, cream, sugar, colorful place mats and finger food. Tea finger foods include cakes, scones, pastries and fruit and cheese plates.
Explain your dress up games rules and objectives to the participants and then allow them to take over the makeover games from there.

How to Create Nail Makeover Games

Nail makeovers are a fun way for girls to spend time together. These games are a great activity at a teenager's birthday party, but girls of all ages will enjoy them too. Start preparing the girls for their nail makeovers by removing old polish, if necessary. Divide the participants into pairs. The pairs should trim each other's cuticles and nails and buff the nails. Apply one layer of a clear base coat to the fingernails and/or toenails. Let the base coat dry completely before beginning this dress up games.
Nail Painting Challenge: Have the players write a description of the nail design they want on a piece of paper. They should draw their design with colored pencils on another piece of paper. The girls should exchange the written descriptions of the design with their partners, but they should not reveal the drawings. Each player must try to recreate the nail design based on the written description with nail polish and paint. After the nails are complete, compare the painted nails to the drawings. The girl who painted her partner's nails most like the drawing is the winner.
Speedy Nail Makeover Game: Divide the players into teams of two. Each girl in a pair must give the other a manicure and pedicure as fast as she can. The makeovers will receive points based on speed and neatness. The players with the most points win.
Award the highest number of points to the pair that finishes first. If there are five pairs competing, the pair that finishes first should get 5 points, the next pair will get 4 points, the next will get 3 points and so on. Adjust the point system for the number of pairs participating.
Points should also be awarded for neatness. The pair with the manicures and pedicures that look the best will get the most points. Score this category the same way you did for speed. Award the same number of points to the best pair as there are pairs playing. Decrease 1 point per pair. The pair with the messiest manicures and pedicures will get only 1 point.
