Fashion Games for Two

Planning a themed-based activity is the key to a successful play date. Creating fashion games can keep two imaginative youngsters entertained for hours. A little planning and gathering of fashion-related items ensures successful interaction.
Fashion Show: Build one dress up games kit per player that contains hats, hair and clothing accessories, scarves, play dresses or pants, and shoes. Use plastic containers with lids, medium cardboard boxes, or even paper bags. Let the kids use what's in their kits to create their own outfits. Put multiple outfit options in each kit so they can create a couple of different looks to put on a more complete fashion show. Give them about 10 minutes to go through their items, put their outfits together, and decide who will walk down the runway and when.
Model and Photographer: Pull some fashion items out of the closet for playing dress up games. Buy a couple of disposable cameras, or allow older children to use a digital camera. Have one of the kids dress up and pose for pictures like a model, while the other player is the fashion photographer. After 10 minutes or so, have them switch roles.
Fashion Runway: As contestants on the reality TV show "Project Runway," players create a piece of clothing with material you provide. Give them newspaper, duct tape, toilet paper, garbage bags and similar items. Have them work together to make a shirt, a dress, pants or an entire outfit. This fashion game lets kids' imaginations run wild.
Imagine Fashion Designer: Imagine Fashion Designer, produced by UBI Soft for the Nintendo DS, offers players the chance to step into a New York fashion agency. The game offers guidance through tutorials, where you pick out unique outfits for the models and put together professional catwalks. The game allows you to express your fashion creativity by giving players complete control over clothes, accessories, hair, makeup and more. The game features a series of "missions," often involving putting together several successful outfits. After each mission, more items for customization are available for the player to use in the next mission. Players are awarded fashion cards for performing certain actions. These can be traded digitally with other players using the DS WiFi connection.
