Over half a decade ago, Nintendo revolutionized the portable gaming market by introducing the DS. Hailed as a vastly popular machine, the DS boasted an innovative design, addictive games and is accountable for opening up gaming to a broader market. Since that point, Nintendo have released a number of updates and new models, but which of these different Nintendo DS models is right for you?
Despite being the oldest and most outmoded model, the first DS is still popular. New models are not sold in stores, but many are sold for cheap costs online, and this adds to their popularity. The first model is also able to play the earliest incarnations of games which are not accessible to the later models. If you can see past the size and weight, this model is superb for those on a low budget, the most cost effective of the different Nintendo DS models.
Up next, the DS Lite didn't offer a enormous deviation from the functions of the original, but as the moniker implies it reduced the weight and size impressively. Apparently the DS Lite also offers the longest battery life of all the different Nintendo DS models, even judged against the more modern ones. The DS Lite remains widely popular with those who like less expensive consoles and are not bothered about the additional media of the DSi.
Nintendo DSi produced the most notable improvement to the features. Adding heaps of awesome new multimedia capabilities, such as game downloads and dual cameras. Also, all the functions of the first DS were built upon, with the display and audio being expanded. The DSi remains the most technically impressive of the different Nintendo DS models, and currently the hottest.
And with the DSi XL arriving shortly, there's masses of choice when making a purchase. The previous devices offer less features and shine, but are easily affordable and still offer brilliant gaming. But if you are after multimedia capabilities and increased bang for your buck, the newer incarnations are a smart choice. One point is certain though, all the different Nintendo DS models offer a great gaming choice!
