Play Station 3, or abbreviated as PS3, is produced by Sony Computer Entertainment. It is a video game console that was released in Japan, on the 11th of November 2006. It has features such as the Play Station Network, connectivity with Play Station Portable, and the use of Blu-ray Disc.
Original console models of the PS3 vary from the hard disk drive sizes. Sizes vary from 20GB, 40GB, 60GB, 80GB to 160GB. The release of the first five PS3 console units varied through their appearance, air vents, from their colors, to the amount of USB ports. Included to the retail packages are one or two Sony PS3 controller (Six axis controller) and/or a Dual Shock 3 controller, a mini USB to USB cable, a power cable, an Ethernet cable, and a composite video/stereo audio input cable.
Sony has then redesigned a slimmer kind of PS3, which consumes less electricity, has one hard drive that can be upgraded, runs quieter and cooler, and is smaller and lighter than the previous model. They have called it PS3 Slim, and are at the moment the only version in production. One of its features is that it allows the use of a TV remote to control the console by HDMI.
There have been numerous accessories developed for the consoles. These include the wireless Sixaxis and DualShock 3 controllers, the Logitech Cordless Precision controller, the Logitech Driving Force GT, the Play Station Eye camera, the BD Remote, and the PlayTV DVB-T tuner /digital video recorder. For most users, they do PS3 mods to give their controllers a unique personal touch.
It is simple to do PS3 mods. On the other hand, there are controller parts that need to be handled gently for when damaged, it ruins the performance of the controller. Overall, it only needs a simple skill, simple tools, and creativity to do the job.
