How To Enjoy Yourself In The Wild

by Charlie Cash

Spending time in the great outdoors can be made more enjoyable wherever you camp, if you prepare ahead of time. The tips and advice below can provide you with a bit of inspiration as you prepare for your outdoor adventure. Once you're done reading, you'll be glad you found this information.

Learn campground etiquette if you're vacationing at a public site. The rules may be posted by the entrance, and there are some unwritten rules as well. Usually music must end before 11pm, and you have to be courteous to everyone you see.

Use specialty camping pillows when camping. Standard pillows can get hot and sticky in humid weather. These pillows will also retain water from the air during humid conditions, so they can mildew. Camping pillows are covered with a special coating that keeps moisture at bay.

If you're camping with kids, try a "jungle breakfast". Take mini-boxes of cereal, juice boxes and fruit out into the woods, and tie them to the trees. Your children can then hunt these foods when they wake up. This is a wonderful way to add fun to their camping enjoyment.

Make sure to pack some duct tape for your camping trip. Tents are generally well-made nowadays, but rips and tears do happen. A piece of durable duct tape can keep you dry at night, even if your tent was damaged by accident.

People will often forget to build their shelter before sunset. When it's dark, it's hard to pitch your tent. You need either a fire or a flashlight. It's much easier to arrive early enough to get set up before sundown.

You must remember that the natural world does not belong to you. In other words, don't leave trash lying around or leave things messy. Look to leave your site just like you found it. If you respect nature, it will last for years.

Make sure you have a charged phone somewhere near you, like in the car. The best idea is to bring a couple of extra batteries to maintain your phone. A cellphone is a great way to get in touch with someone in case of an emergency so be sure yours isn't going to die.

Be sure your insurance policy is up-to-date before leaving for your camping trip. Some policies will not cover you outside your own state. This is even more of a factor if you travel to another country to go camping, like Canada. Be sure that you prepare yourself in case anything happens!

Take extra precautions if you are camping in any area that has very dangerous wildlife. You have to wrap your food tightly and keep them away from the tent; some foods, you may have to forget. Doing this means you cut down on your possibilities of an animal attack.

It should be obvious now that camping can be fun! Plan well and you will truly enjoy your next adventure outdoors. The tips you have read will prove beneficial. Doing so makes your entire trip more enjoyable.
