Animal Crossing & The Idea Of Adventure Race Training

by Rob Sutter

I think that there aren't many games that have been able to display the idea of living life but "Animal Crossing: New Leaf" has definitely been able to do this. It's one of the most intriguing games, especially when I haven't been so open to life simulation titles in the past. However, while paying off your house is required of you, it's possible to get lost in such things as fishing and bug catching, to name a couple. Adventure race training could possibly be utilized, too.

Keep in mind that this game, for all intents and purposes, is a life simulator. You live from day to day, in real time mind you, working in a multitude of ways in order to keep your town prosperous. Being the mayor isn't the easiest job in the world, especially when you have to make sure that the location looks as nice as humanly possible. This is just the "work" aspect, though, so don't think that there aren't other ways to get lost in the game. They might prove to be the most enjoyable ways.

I believe that you can have a lot of fun within the town, considering that a number of hobbies exist. For example, I found myself fishing more than anything else, being able to locate catches in the water before catching a lure. It's a game that requires a sense of timing, being able to pinpoint when exactly the fish will bite down before seizing the catch. While this may be my overall favorite hobby to go about, the island is my favorite location on the whole.

A location which I can only describe as a luau getaway of sorts, the island not only possesses opportunities to catch bugs and fish but indulge in activities as well. For those who don't know, this island has a number of challenges which can be taken up, some of them easier than others. While adventure race training examples aren't specific, I think it's clear that such instances as utilizing a slingshot to pop balloons deserves to be mentioned. Try to imagine an event along the lines of Spartan Race in a game like this.

I personally enjoy the idea of these challenges because they are ones which test your skill in a number of ways. Of course, you're going to want to be the best that you can be in them so making sure that you try your best over and over again will give you a better indication of how to tackle each one. As you can see, fun is always going to be a goal when in "Animal Crossing: New Leaf." However, this has to come with responsibility, which is what the series has always entailed.
