Whether it's a birthday present, a reward for an exam, or just a token of affection, everyone likes an adventure gift - especially males. Birthday gifts for men are often the hardest. Ask to see the to-do list of any man, however, and flight experiences are nearly always at the top.
From the air to the water now, with another popular gift: white water rafting. Sharing a vessel with up to eight people, who are all expected to pitch in, this is the ultimate in white-knuckle fun. Expect full waterproof kit and helmet, with plenty of advice on how best to tackle the current, before embarking on the water, negotiating the temperamental twists and turns, and passing some truly awesome scenery.
Skydiving is another extreme aerial activity day that really takes the breath away. Before ascending to the clouds the lucky recipient of this gift will jump in tandem after being fully briefed on the ground. There will be a good thirty seconds of adrenaline-pumping freefall once the harness is in place. You'll get the chance to take in the amazing views from hundreds of feet high once the chute has opened, before slowly coming back down to earth.
Bungee jumping is another activity for anyone who enjoys a rush of adrenaline, taking place from the safety of a crane, way up high, 150 feet above the ground. You'll be in safe hands as an instructor will be on hand to give tips, attach the harness and double-check safety.
So, whatever the occasion, the next time you are buying gifts for men - sons, boyfriends, fathers or friends - be sure to think outside the box. Activity days are a perfect alterative to the norm, and come as varied as flight experiences and snowboarding. Whatever you choose, however, it's guaranteed to be the present of a lifetime.
