People seem to be putting mini with everything these days, mini golf, mini cooper and then mini hookah. Now, before we think that mini hookahs were conceived just from creative monotony, take into account that the conventional hookah has some distinct disadvantages, which the mini hookah deals with very nicely.

The biggest disadvantage with a traditional hookah is the size. It is has numerous parts and some of those parts are fragile. So if you ever want to bring your hookah along with you on a vacation or to a friend's house it would be extremely difficult; more or less impossible.

However, this isn't the case with mini hookahs

It is extremely simple to take a mini hookah anywhere along with you as it has a carrying case. The benefit of this case is that you can keep your hookah in it when not in use, so you don't have to clean it so often.

The Big Difference

The most obvious difference between mini hookahs compared with more traditional hookahs of course is the size. But, mini hookah is not a proportionally small version of a hookah.

To begin with, the major difference is the length of the body, or stem. While an average hookah stem may consist of 50-75% of the total hookah height, it's generally less than 50% with a mini. The water jar is also a great deal smaller, and so is the length of the hose.

Nevertheless, there are several aspects that are same between a standard hookah and a mini hookah. For instance, the size of the bowl is equivalent to the typical hookah. Moreover, the duration of the smoking session is same and equal quantity of tobacco is used in both. And the diameter of the stem and hose stays consistent as well. Otherwise, the hookah would restrict air flow and not allow for an enjoyable smoking experience. So you can say that mini hookah is a smaller sized traditional hookah, however, many parts of the hookah are kept consistent with its counterpart for the reasons of functionality.

The Travel Case

As noted, a distinct benefit of the mini hookah is the ability to carry it in the case for travel and safety reasons. There are various sizes and shapes in cases. To ensure that the no component of the hookah breaks, hard cases that look like small trunks can be purchased. They are generally secured by a latch, just like a trunk or suitcase, and have separate padded compartments for each part of the hookah. The most breakable components of a hookah are the bowl (made of clay) and water jar (made of glass), and because of its nature, the hard case gives great safety in the event the case is knocked or dropped.

Additionally, soft cases can also be found. Like hard cases, many of them have several compartments to organize and keep hookah and accessories. A padding in the carrying case protects the components from breaking. But, they are not as secure as hard cases.

Finally, while cases are commonly sold with mini hookahs, which may be 17 inches, it is easy to get a case that will hold a 32 inch hookah or larger.
