Make sure that your child is getting enough sleep each night. If they do not get enough sleep, they tend to lose focus throughout the day, which could prevent them from doing school work and other activities. Try not to let them eat or drink anything sugary for at least a few hours before bedtime.
Sharing household tasks with your child can build self-esteem and create a sense of belonging that will benefit your child in many ways. Age appropriate chores give your child the feeling that they are part of a family team and it also gives a feeling of pride in a job well done.
Do not try to introduce the bottle to a normally breastfeed baby who is hungry. A hungry baby will not understand what the bottle is for and will reject it immediately because he at this point only associates food with the breast. Allow your child to select and use cookie cutters to cut nutritious food into fun shapes. Let them enjoy a shark-shaped grilled cheese sandwich with their low-sodium tomato soup. This makes eating nutritious food fun and teaches your child good nutritional habits.
Children react better to positive reinforcement than negative reinforcement. Parents also often overlook when a child does something well but tend to get angry and hand out punishments when a child does something wrong. A much better environment would be where the parents praise and reward the child for doing something well. Children are much more eager to obtain rewards than they are to avoid punishment.
A child will be one of the greatest joys and challenges that you will ever face in your life. You will never laugh as much as you do at your child nor will you ever be quite so frustrated as you become with your child. Try to take the good with the bad to help it all even out.
If your children have extra-loud toys with inadequate volume control, place duct tape over the speakers to muffle the sound a bit. This way, your child can still enjoy the toy without driving everyone else in the house crazy. Duct tape comes in loads of appealing colors and designs, so you can likely find tape that coordinates with the toy.
You love your children no matter what, but sometimes they can certainly test your patience. From little issues like not eating their veggies to bigger problems like fighting between siblings, there is always a solution.
