Some Of The Changes That Are Happening When 18 Weeks Pregnant

by Donovan Sparks

The joy of a pregnant woman is knowing that their unborn child is developing healthily and with the growth and development comes more expectations. When you are 18 weeks pregnant, your child is preparing itself to move. At this period of time, they are five and a half inches long and they weigh five ounces. At this stage you can even feel it kicking, rolling, twisting and even punching. The baby can also start hiccupping and yawning.

Eighteen weeks which is equivalent to four and a half months reveals your pregnancy and people can actually notice that you are pregnant because your stomach appears bigger and it has bulged out. This is when you can have several constant back pains and if they get severe and persistent then you should visit your doctor as you may be developing complications.

When you are four and a half months pregnant, heartburns are inevitable and you just need to know how to control them and also minimize them as they are very uncomfortable. One way to ensure that you control these heartburns is by making sure that you have chewed the food in your mouth and you make sure that you do not rush the eating process.

To emphasize on this point, you should not eat when you are in a hurry because you will only augment your heartburns. You are also advised to eat small quantities of food and then eat snacks rather that consuming huge amounts of food. Also stay clear of anything that is chilly as this will only increase your problems.

At four and a half months, you will feel your baby kick but it is not mandatory at this stage so you should not panic if yours does not kick at this particular moment because of varied factors that may delay the kicking. You may also release gas often and this is not something to be embarrassed about because your body is undergoing changes.

You will also experience varicose veins that are very common among pregnant women. However, if they start itching then you should wear a support hose and this will help to apply pressure and more blood will be pumped to your heart. Wear them first thing before you leave your bed as this will prevent the blood from pooling.

When you are 18 weeks pregnant, you will experience bleeding gums because your hormones are causing the membranes in the mucous to swell and also the ones in your mouth and this will cause an inflammation, irritation and gums that are bleeding.
