Horse Vitamins As well as Western Saddles

by Mark Givens

Horse vitamins are perfect for your horse. It may help make them strong and healthy. Besides vitamins, you also must ensure that your horse is often comfortable. This means using the right saddle for him. People not used to riding often make the mistake of thinking just any saddle will do on any horse. Nothing could be more than the truth. The next misunderstanding is that they will need to get a saddle that fit to their body type and specifications only. Actually the first fit must be for your horse. A too large saddle will not be able to be secured effectively on a small horse and the same can probably be said for having a horse too big for any smaller saddle.

Just what measurement of Western saddle seat will you be needing? Well, that will depend. Not the solution you wished to know, right? Let's explain why this seemingly basic question isn't so easy. First, start with some basic guidelines for proper western saddle seat size for the rider: Remember that Western saddle seat size is the term for rider fit and it has absolutely nothing to do with the way the saddle fits the horse. There must be roughly four inches between the front of your body and also the fork (or swells).

Your rump should rest on the bottom of the cantle, but must not be pressed up against the rear of the cantle. Some prefer a firmer fit, some looser. Normally, its safer to use a saddle a smidge too large than a smidge too small. All western saddles include a stated seat size. Seat size basically measures the length from the bottom of the horn to the top center of the cantle. This distance will then be expressed as a size in half-inch increments from 12 inches to 17 inches.

With a published saddle seat size, selecting the best size saddle would appear to be quite straight forward. In reality seat size is only one factor identifying the fit of the western saddle. Sit within the same size of a variety of different styles and brands of saddles and you will find substantial differences in the fit. You will probably find that a 14 1/2" Circle Y barrel racing saddle fits well but that you may need a 15" in a Dale Martin ranch saddle.

Keep in mind that horse vitamins make sure that your mount is strong and sturdy. Next, think about your economical choices. Assess if you need to purchase a brand new saddle or perhaps a used one. New saddles could be custom made to suit your needs and your horses greatest comfort. A great used saddle is usually a good choice though as long as it is correctly fitted too. If the rider is not finished growing, then a used saddle might be the best choice. One thing to remember is that used saddle purchases are often non refundable. It could be already broken in adding to comfort but if for any reason it does not work for you, then you may be bound to it. The material saddles are made out of vary in prices too. All Leather saddles are generally more costly than one made of other materials.
