Building stuff is a lot of fun. The reason for this is that we can see our work physically resulting in front of us, giving us the best sense of accomplishment there is. This is great because it gets us doing something instead of just sitting around all the time.
By building things we are creating items that can be used in the future, and not just by us. Some people build wooden obelisks because they are great for creeping plants to grow up. This kind of item can be passed on to a family member if the rose bush dies or the people move.
People organise their lives in order to stay busy. This is a great way to live as it means you never have a dull moment. Many people build things in their spare time or take on a hobby such as gardening to make sure they're always being productive.
The number of people doing DIY on their own house is always rising because they are doing up their house. By doing this people are more likely to get a better deal on their home when they sell it and can therefore buy something better.
It gets to a point that there are no tools that can help you to complete a DIY job in the home. This is when it is best to hire out a huge piece of machinery to complete a very big job such as breaking up a huge piece of concrete in the garden.
The best thing about having built something is the resulting object. People are usually very impressed that you've been able to accomplish something and therefore ask you in great detail how you were able to do it. This can be really great if you feel like you've put a lot of effort into something as you realise that everyone also appreciates it.
