Enjoying Bath Time With A Bath Visor

by Rosalinda Richmond

Many manufacturers claim to have a gentle shampoo that will not cause the baby to cry if it gets into their eyes. Unfortunately, even the gentlest shampoos can turn tub time into tear time. As the water and soap splashes into the baby's eyes, both the child and the parent begin to panic. Tired of seeing his children in distress, one frustrated dad developed the bath visor.

Lightweight and available in several bright colors, they can be used in the shower or the bath. Also known as a shampoo shield, the kids will think they are cool because it looks like a hat. It is also a great tool to teach the children how to wash their hair. Made for kids of all ages, as soon as their arms are long enough to reach the top of their head, the kid is ready to learn.

Every child's head is shaped differently. In an effort to find the perfect fit, manufacturers offer several variations of this product. The first variation is an open-ended model. The product is in the shape of a semi circle. The open-ended design makes it easy to fit almost any head size or shape. Although this design makes washing the back of the head easy, it offers the least amount of protection.

Although the close-ended version hugs the head and provides the most protection, it is designed for a particular head size. If the shield is too big or too small, water and shampoo may still get into the eyes. Unlike the open-ended design, the back of the hair may not be washed thoroughly.

The second model is a closed circle. Although it provides a snug fit, it will only fit certain sizes. If the guard is to loose the soap and water will get into the child eyes. On the other hand, if the product is too tight, it will not fit completely on the head. Depending on the location of the guard on the back of the head, those hairs may not be washed.

All models are available in bright colors and decorative designs making them more enjoyable. Shaped like a seashell, some closed-ended models have a detachable shower cap. Great for adults, the detachable cap can help keep expensive hairdos dry. Because of its versatility, tots will protect their face and eyes from the sun while paying outdoors or at the beach. Common decorations for children include hearts, sea animals, ducks, sparkles, diamonds and stars.

In an effort to make tub time enjoyable, parents can purchase certain accessorizes that work with the water guard. For example, the Aqueduck Faucet Extender allows the parent to stream the water directly to the child's head. The extender fits on the typical bathroom faucet. It is also dishwasher friendly. It is also made from durable material.
