Getting the Most Flavor from Your Hookah
To get the most from your hookah you don't need much, but just some good common sense and a sound sense of discipline. The first and most essential thing is to clean your device regularly. Rinse your hookah with warm soapy water right after each use, or at the minimum wash it meticulously in between changing brands or flavors.
Regarding specific tactics, it's important to prevent the coals from burning up the tobacco mid-session. The tobacco should not get stuck to the foil, better yet, the tobacco shouldn't even touch the foil. When you're packing the bowl, leave a few millimeters between the top of your tobacco and the plane created by the rim of the bowl. Then, when you wrap the foil taught around the head, you'll obviously have the preferred amount of space needed to prevent the dreaded burn. Another technique you can use to maintain distance between foil and the tobacco is to place two toothpicks in cross on the tobacco. Tobacco should not be packed down very tightly in the bowl. A loose mound of tobacco that will allow the air to pass through it is ideal. This will also stop the tobacco from burning as quickly, and it will need less suction on the hose to have a nice, full flavorful hit. Some people also use two sheets of aluminum foil to avoid overheating. Don't burn the shisha and you'll be able to enjoy a smooth and long session of smoking.
Choosing a shisha flavor is not easy. Especially if you are a new hookah smoker, it can become very difficult to find something that you like the most.
