|Types of Hookahs

by John McCree

Hookahs can be found in several shapes, sizes and price ranges. Just like purchasing a car, the perfect hookah for you depends on a combination of personal preferences. For those who are new to hookahs, here is a set of five questions to help you in making a good decision:

1. How often will I smoke?

2. Do I want more than one hose? (hookahs come in two, three, or four hoses)

3. Will I need a case to transport the hookah?

4. Will I put it in a cabinet after using or will it be an ornamental piece?

5. How long do I want a smoking session to last?

You will have a better idea of the hookah that you would like to purchase after asking these questions to yourself. Maybe you have a plan to delight in your hookah alone in the evening. Or maybe you plan on throwing small parties where you will host a couple of friends, and share a larger hookah for some hours while you play cards, plus you'll show it openly when not in use. May be you need a hookah that you can take with you when your are traveling. The perfect hookah for each of these scenarios would probably have different characteristics.

Different kinds of Hookahs to look at

Below are a few of the commonly used types of hookahs:

1. Egyptian Hookah - The Egyptian hookah features a large, thin stem and a body made of copper or brass. It is reasonably priced and really common.

2. Syrian Hookah - Less common than Egyptian hookahs and so somewhat more costly, characterized by a hoseport that has more of an upward angle.

3. Crystal Hookah - The classiness of crystal hookah separates it from other types of hookahs. These are towards the high budget side and can be used as a piece of decoration in the home.

4. Rotating Hookah - These hookahs are typically made from stainless steel and characterized by a rotating base at the bottom, which allows the entire hookah to swivel 360 degrees for easier hose passing. The swivel feature adds small cost.

5. Mini Hookah - Generally low-priced, these hookahs are best for individuals who travel a lot and like to smoke.

6. Specialty Hookah - Specialty hookahs are perfect for those who are interested to buy a hookah to suit their unique personality. The price tag on specialty hookah can vary from inexpensive to too expensive. It all depends on what you want.

Finding Your Hookah

You can buy hookahs on the web or from brick and mortar shops. At a physical shop, you have the benefit that you can inspect the purchase before actually paying the money.

If you like shopping on the Internet and if you do not want to go out hunting for a hookah shop then you can purchase one from the convenience of your home using a website. Shopping online has the advantage that you can get goods at a really low cost since there is no intermediary involved. You can find hundreds of hookah selling internet sites with a quick Google search with most of the websites offering customer support.
