The first step in any crafting project is to gather all of the needed items. Take a trip to the local craft shop to find everything. Buy some card stock in shades of blue and buy some contrasting colors as well. Yellow and white work quite well.
No project should be started without the necessary tools. Scissors, markers and glue are all vital to getting things done. A punch that creates star or cloud shapes is also a nice touch.
No project would be complete without some nice accessories. Ribbons, stickers and even yarn work quite nicely. Choose items that represent the theme. Seashells will also create a nice touch. Find some magazines for image cutouts such as boats and lighthouses.
After getting everything together, the project may begin. The first step is to cut out a large rectangle from the card stock. Then fold it in half so that it looks like a pamphlet or book.
Choose which side will be the front and begin decorating it. Use the yarn or ribbon to create a nice border. Place images and stickers in the middle and use the hole punch to create a cutout background. Glue down the contrasting paper on the inside so that the holes have color behind them. Finally, add some seashells or other accessory items.
Finally, write a message inside. The words can say anything and should represent the occasion. A short poem would be nice or simply tell the person how special they are.
