Is It Possible To Greatly Modify City Bicycling Vehicles?

by Rob Sutter

I believe that anyone who gets into city bicycling knows just how much work goes into it. Most of it does include the actual riding process but what about the extra work that some people put into their bikes in order to make them better or simply give them personal touches? Maybe a new set of wheels will be added so that the vehicle moves at a smoother pace. While you have these smaller changes, there are those which do nothing short of blowing that term out of the water.

I think that anyone who knows anything about the Internet understands just how much press certain videos can attain. Do you remember when "Numa Numa" was the biggest craze and people couldn't get that song out of their heads? It seems like certain visuals are tough to get out of the mind, even if they come from the most popular videos featuring kittens and puppies. Regardless of what the subject matter may be, it seems like just about anything has the potential to attain a great number of views.

According to a written piece on Mashable, a French bicyclist by the name of Francois Gissy decided to place an interesting take on city bicycling. The way that this was done was through a rocket, which was attached to the bike in question. With the rocket being utilized, the vehicle managed to get up to top speed of 163 miles per hour. To say that this kind of act is astonishing would be an understatement, even for authorities on the matter like Linus Bike.

If I told you that this managed to break a world record, would you be at all stunned? It seems like this is the kind of speed that can only be achieved by motors, though creativity is something that deserves to be noted. It's very possible that this isn't going to have much use, though, apart from showing off the amount of speed that can be attained. However, I think that that the two videos I've seen are greatly entertaining, both of them attaining almost 10,000 views total.

I think that the actual safety of this method is in question. After all, managing the use of a live rocket is very tense because you never know just how much strength it can have. You have to be able to utilize it in a way so that it doesn't backfire on you, which is an action that is easier said than done if you don't have the proper training beforehand. I believe that it can be wildly entertaining to see such videos, though, if not just somewhat on the unsafe side.
