One problem that many parents have in common is how to get their children to sleep. While this can be a frustrating issue, you'll find it also is one that can be corrected. Do not become upset or flustered. If you lose control, it will be upsetting to both you and your children. You are the adult, and it is up to you to behave that way. Do not let your children get under your skin. Stay calm, take a few deep breaths and stick to your routine.

If your child gets out of bed, gently lead him or her back to their bed. Do not engage in banter and back and forth. Just firmly state that bedtime is here. They will be able to play, watch TV, and talk to other family members in the morning.

Sometimes even with the best of intentions, a person cannot get to sleep. This happens to people of all ages. When this happens to your kids, let them know that you understand that at times it can be difficult to fall asleep. They can remain in bed until they are able to sleep.
