Constructing A Stylish Home Garden

by Byron Jonas

For those fortunate enough to have space behind their house, this can be turned into a stylish home garden. This plot of land can be a haven of stillness in the middle of a large town and a place to sit alone and think or chat to friends in privacy.

A space can be planted with trees, shrubs and flowers that suit the taste of the owner and are adapted to the local climate. With careful budgeting an elegant plot can be created that is relaxing and pleasant to the eye.

In a location that has long winter months, the owner may purchase trees and shrubs that retain their beauty in the cold season. A collection of bushes and small trees with contrasting size and foliage may give the appropriate style to this private patch of ground.

Where the climate is hot and dry, plants should be chosen to suit these conditions. Trees may provide shade for visitors and the interest could be increased by adding exotic and colorful varieties of shrub.

If a supply of water is available the owner may consider placing a fountain in the center of the plot. This may be a focal point for visitors. The fountain could be an old style basin that provides a background murmur of splashing water that is pleasing to the ear. If the owner prefers a modern theme, the water feature could be a modern fountain with jets of water falling among stylish abstract sculptures.

The layout may include formal paths leading to the central feature. The focal point of the scene could be a private space framed by tall trees or shrubs to create an air of intimacy. Flowers can be planted along the border of each path and these could be chosen for their perfumed smell to provide extra charm during both day and night.

The atmosphere would be transformed by the tasteful use of lighting. Lanterns may hang from the branches of trees. Important features such as rock gardens or water features may be highlighted at night to provide a touch of style and elegance. The paths may be lit by colored lamps to ensure safety for night visitors.

Whether the owner lives in a stately home or a humble suburban dwelling, the available space may be used to the best effect. A garden with style does not need to be large. The elegance of the layout with shrubs, trees, water features and lighting can create a stylish home garden.

For the nicest looking landscape in the community, choosing the correct fencing supplies is critical.
