The 1996-97 Steve Nash Rookie Card

by Leta Dietert

Weighing beneath 200 pounds, at six foot 3, Steve Nash rookie card is much more of a player than in the past. He right now has taken a place among other greats, as one of those in the NBA who has made Most Valuable player several times. Only 11 men in the history of the NBA has done this and now he has joined them.

In his initial couple of seasons playing with the Phoenix Suns, things were not the best for him. It was in 96 that he had arrived from Santa Clara and was met with Jason Kidd on the team, who did very well at that time. Within that time period he averaged under 10 points a game and a few assists.

Now it is much different (here are even some Mexican jokes about Nash). The Phoenix Suns could not imagine playing without having him. Although he was traded in 1998 to Dallas, it seems that it made a huge difference on exactly how he played. He went from nobody to getting all-star status within just a short amount of time. In 2004, as a free agent he go back to the Suns.

Steve Nash seemed to find what he expected, when working with the coach Mike D'Antoni. His game average took a turn for 19 points and eleven assists a game. He improved on his 3 pointers and layups, together with getting himself the MVP status for two years in a row.

Also, it served to make the Sun's one of the major NBA teams. In the first half of 2006-07, his scoring got better still. Despite all of this, his rookie card remains way undervalued when compared to other greats of his time.

It is always a mystery of why his card continues to have a value so low. Right now nevertheless, you can get a great deal on his card and will continue to be able to right until they recognize all of the great work that he has done.
