Kettlebell Exercises vs. Electronic Ab Devices: Choose Your Side

by Brent Neenan

If you put on the TV in those early morning hours when sleep is elusive or, sadly enough, you just need to be awake at that hour, then you've probably seen your fair share of infomercials. Many of them are geared towards fitness and advertise workouts that promise amazing results in shorter and shorter amounts of time (with less effort.) The truth is, many well-known workout regimes are a scam, but kettlebells and kettlebell exercises will give you just what you're looking for: an effective workout in afairly short amount of time.

The first thing that must be illustrated is the blatant lie of the 15 minute workout. Any idiot knows that a 15 minute workout is not enough time to develop a toned, sculpted and lean body. It's too good to be true. 15 minutes doesn't even give someone enough time to warm up and cool down properly. Every workout providing extensive results in short amounts of time is almost always a scam of sorts. The only true way to finish a quick yet effective workout is to use kettlebells and perform kettlebell exercises. Basically kettlebells force your entire body and many muscle groups to work at the same time and requires less time than normal workouts on devices like a treadmill.

Another widely known product sold on infomercials is the electronic ab exercises. The science behind these miniature torture devices is that weight loss can be actualized through electronic impulses that send weak electrical shocks directly to the body causing muscles to tighten. Regardless of the fact that these machines are widely used in the medical field there is not guarantee it helps people lose weight. The only real way to lose weight is to through the exertion of energy which will increase your heart rate. Allowing a machine to do the work for you doesn't actually aid the body. Kettlebells however, require physical effort and mental concentration which always yields positive results.

Supplements that claim to be "a workout in a bottle" are similar to the electronic ab exercises in that with little effort, they can aid in weight loss and a tonedbody. While vitamins and supplements can aid in a healthier lifestyle, they certainly will not replace a workout. The old saying "no pain, no gain" really lends itself to the whole workout idea. While a few things may aid in a better workout, putting the time and effort to get in shape is really the only way to see results. With kettlebell exercises, you can feel the way the weights are working and toning your body, and you can feel good knowing you are challenging yourself.

Kettlebells and kettlebell exercise are an awesome way to get your workout done and get your body into shape. Unlike so many of the scams out there they really do what there are intended to do. The next time you hear the phrase "too good to be true" remember it most likely is unless it's a kettlebell workout.
