Dogs are truly wonderful pets. Few things bring dog lovers more joy than spending time with their furry friends. And our dogs, too, love spending time with us and being as close to us as possible, which sometimes includes sleeping on our bed or sitting on a couch with us.
Of course, this brings up the big question of whether or not you should allow your dog on your furniture. The answer is: The choice is yours. As long as your dog is healthy and does not have some kind of infection, it is absolutely acceptable to have dogs on furniture.
But be mindful that this is only a good idea, if your dog is well-trained. You should be able to trust him to behave himself on the furniture. It would not be the first time for there to be an "accident" on furniture.
Moreover, make sure that you groom your dog well. It would be quite frustrating and irritating to have his fur all over the furniture.
Of course, there are people who claim that allowing your dog on your furniture will lead to them transmitting diseases. This does not need to be the case.
If you take your dog to the vet for regular check-ups, if he gets the appropriate vaccinations, and if he is generally healthy, this should not be a concern.
Additionally, there are a few more things that you will need to take into consideration: It doesn't need mentioning that your dog should be clean when he lies down on furniture. Also you should make sure that there are no infants on the bed or couch, when he wants to get on there.
Moreover, simply clean your bed afterwards. If you have a vacuum cleaner, use it to clean your bed. This should take care of all the fur that might have been left on the bed.
So that's the advice I would give anyone who wishes to allow their dog on their furniture. However, this does not mean that you have to allow it. It is a personal choice. Should you choose to forbid it, that is understandable too.
