Photography is a relaxing hobby that requires enough concentration to allow you to forget the stresses in your life. Wildlife may hide, people blink or tire of smiling, or any number of other things have the potential to spoil a shot. If you spend too much time worrying about your camera settings, you may find that your shot opportunity is long gone.
Don't pack your equipment carelessly when traveling. Take the lenses you think you may need and don't forget to pack additional cleaning items and batteries. Try and think what is most important on your trip and how convenient it is carry to carry around.
Do not be afraid to direct the subjects in your photo where you need them. Ask your subjects to pose for you and move objects. Exercising a little control over the scenes you photograph will result in photos that are much better than snapshots you take without providing any input.
When you are traveling, start shooting photos right when you are leaving. While you will no doubt have the opportunity to take many good pictures when you reach your destination, the journey there will also provide many wonderful opportunities to capture beautiful scenes. Documenting your journey, whether it's the airport, a cab ride, or even interesting rest stops on the road, will give you priceless memories of your trip.
