Using Research To Earn Money From Your Hobbies
by George Talbert
How many people can wake up in the morning and, instead of joining the flood of traffic headed into the corporate world, focus on doing just what they love? Since chances are you still need to make a living to make the most out of your hobbies, here's how you can get rich by being into them.
It's amazing how many people stumbled on their dreams just by accidentally profiting from their hobbies. Before anything else, though, you need to research - one thing you have to do before undertaking any important venture.
There are hobbies where the potential to make money is right in front of you. Crafts can be sold for a profit if they're unique and the public is willing to pay for it. However, you may have another hobby, like knitting. Do you think people would pay good money for your handmade sweaters and scarves?
Google is the Elvis Presley or Michael Jackson of all search engines - it is the King, and the best place to go for your research needs. Enter your hobby in the search box and you're all set. If I enter knitting, I find a list of results form Google, but on the right side of the screen is a list of ads.
You can easily find out who shares your interests and who's making a profit from your hobby. You should then see several results afterwards. Some are for online magazines people sell subscriptions to, or newsletters where they can read knitting tips and stories.
Other results may direct you to a list of baseball card prices, or online stores where to buy sports memorabilia. Supplies people buy for their knitting hobby can be a goldmine of profits for you. You may not be selling the results of your hobby directly, but your expertise plays an important role because the buying public trusts you to sell them quality materials.
Another option is to use the unbelievable researching capability of the Internet by means of a keyword tool, and finding out what people usually search for in conjunction to your hobby. A free keyword tool like Good Keywords could give you a clearer picture of what the general public wants to research on.
Using the knitting example above, you will discover that most people are using the Internet to search for knitting machines, knitting supplies, knitting books, knitting instructions and knitting stores.
And you can make your earning potential explode by opening an online store that caters to the above results you found with the keyword tool, or offer to teach your hobby-related expertise to novice hobbyists wanting to learn the tricks of the trade. Making a profit from your hobby doesn't have to be difficult. All it takes is some good old fashioned research for you to know how the public would make use of your hobby-related skills.
