Why Everyday People Would Pick Digital Picture-Taking Over Dated Film Technology
by Angela Patel
People who celebrate special events can treasure memories using photographs. This can be during graduation ceremonies birthdays or wedding occasions. However one great advance that has made photography so much easier is the development of digital or non-film technology. At the end of the last century digital cameras became a consumer item. From that time we have seen the rapid decline in the use of film technology.
There are a number of reasons why digital photography has surpassed the original film based methods. First, digital cameras are easy to use. People with absolutely no experience today use digital cameras to produce wonderful photos. Additionally, it isn't necessary to even own a particularly advanced camera to take great shots. Apart from the many digital camera designs, they can also use web cameras and cell phone cameras to produce quality images that they can reproduce digitally.
So what are the other plus points of digital cameras?
With digital cameras people don't have to wait to see if they have taken a good photo; they can instantly see the picture on the camera. As a result, they can discard bad photos and take new ones before changing scenes. They would be unable to do this with film cameras. It would be unfortunate if photojournalists captured photos only to realize later that came out the wrong way. Another advantage of digital photography is that people can easily move finished photographs between digital media.
Without a doubt the old film technology was more expensive than the new method. Apart from batteries, people are able to take an almost infinite number of pictures with no further expense. People therefore are freed of the burden of purchasing film. In addition, they do not have to visit photo development shops. Today individuals only have to do is plug their camera into their computer, in order to view the photographs. They won't have to deal with any of the abrasive chemicals used in developing old-fashioned photos. So they don't just save money, but they also maintain better health at the same time.
Digital images are much easier to alter than film images. Even novices can make alterations to pictures using freely available software. They can reduce red eye, chop off certain parts, apply tone, blur, colour alteration and other effects. It's even possible to blend together two, three or more pictures into one. They can do all these modifications with a single stroke on the keyboard or mouse click.
Photographs that are stored on films deteriorate with time. This can be a major hindrance, especially if individuals would like to use them in the future. Digital photography does not suffer from this problem. There is a vast array of digital devices that people can choose from to store images. Those images should retain their original quality for the lifespan of those devices.
Digital cameras make sharing images very simple. One of the newest places for people to share photos is via social networking sites such as Facebook. People can easily move digital images from their phone to their Facebook profile sometimes even while on the go. Their friends and family will immediately be able to view all their photographs.
