How To Have A Healthy And Happy Garden

by Phillip Roosevelt

Gardening can be a fun and exciting way to beautify the outside of your home and improve the aesthetic value. There are many things you can do to create the garden of your dreams that can stay within your budget. These suggestions are sure to help you on your way to a great garden.

It is important to drink water when gardening. You will be out in the sun and it is very easy to get dehydrated very quickly. You can easily take a water bottle out to your garden with you so that you have the water on hand to sip on throughout the day.

Turn your pile often to expose more areas to open air. If you don't turn your pile it can have a tendency to only decay on the top layers. Good decaying rate requires air pockets, proper watering, and occasionally turning the material so you get a more homogenous mixture. Just by shifting the pile a bit you can open up air spots that will help to speed up the growth of bacteria.

Don't use regular garden soil. Container plants require a lot of nutrition, which garden soil is unable to provide. Remove the shrub from its pot, loosen the roots, place it in the container, and fill with compost until it is level with the root ball of the shrub. Remember to keep it well-watered!

One way to slowly-water your plant is by using a plastic bottle, such as a 2-liter soda bottle. Punch a few small holes in the bottom of the bottle, fill it to the neck with water and replace the cap. Place it in the soil and use the cap to regulate the flow of water.

Wind up your water hose after each time that you water your garden. Winding up your hose will keep you from tripping over it, and help you find the watering end of the hose easily any time you need it. Winding the hose on a hose reel will also help your hose last longer.

It is important that you protect your hands while you work in your garden. If you do not wear gloves while you work in your yard, your hands can suffer from infections and other contaminants. Make sure that you keep your body safe by wearing protective clothing and gloves.

If you would like to create an eye-catching fall garden with a lot of height and contrasting colors, try planting spiky plants like the New Zealand flax, the yucca or tall ornamental grasses. Add drama with texture and color by adding chartreuse plants like the Golden Spirit smoke bush or the Tiger Eyes sumac. To contrast the chartreuse color, plant purple plants alongside the chartreuse plants like the Black Lace elderberry or Loropetalum.

A great tip to consider in regard to gardening is the fact that you will want to fertilize before a rain whenever you can. This is important to consider because not only will it prevent the nutrients in the soil from drying out, but it will also help to blend it with your existing soil quicker.

As you can see, having a successful garden is dependent upon many different things. If you employ the tips given to you in this article, you are sure to find your garden growing in attraction and becoming the talk of the neighborhood. You certainly deserve to have a terrific garden.
