How Space Game Designs Vary

There are lots of distinct game developing companies that have made space game RPG's and MMORPG's, each of which have their own distinct styles of gameplay. Although technology has grown in considerable ways since the days of dice RPG's like Dungeons and Dragons, you will still notice many of the same elements in modern role playing games. As technology has improved during the last decade, particularly in relation to the Internet, so has the way in which many people enjoy role playing and space games. Ever since the advent of MMORPG's, or massively multiplayer online role playing games, there have been many changes in the way players think of their favorite games. What distinctions can be noticed between MMORPG's and their one player RPG counterparts?

Both RPG's and MMORPG's in the space game genre keep true to role playing essentials such as leveling up a character to progress through the game, character customization, and item looting. The straight progression of most console RPG's is clearly different, however, from the free world concept of newer online games. Game events are quite strictly controlled and, while you may be able to make some minor choices about what your character does, major decisions are unchangeable.

This is starkly different, however, if you are playing a space game prepared as an MMORPG that allows you to interact with hundreds of other players. The game environment is constantly being adapted and changing based on the decision you make in the game, as well as the decisions other players who are logged on are making. This creates an unpredictable element to these games that is much more akin to real life and thus enhances the feeling of role playing. Instead of sticking to a set path for the game's progression and your character's decisions, you can choose your own path and focus on the elements of the game that you find most interesting.

Multiplayer gaming is just about never seen on traditional RPG games; they are known as classically one player games. This social feature of MMORPG's is part of the reason for which they have quickly gained popularity around the world.

RPG's, MMORPG's, and other space games all have exciting elements that gamers love. An exciting game that combines role playing elements with an online social aspect can bring you countless hours of fun.
