Businesses are taking advantage of this fact, and are making and selling them for unusually high prices. Vintage models are highly desired, as are those with big bulky faces. Some even have a clear covering so the inside mechanism can be seen.
This trend toward vintage pieces have fueled activity on auctions. Many are being auctioned at extremely high prices. Luxurious models are selling for tens of thousands of dollars. Certain brands give a sense of prestige to own, and people are paying high prices for that privilege. A model that is used by a movie star in a popular movie causes the value of that brand to increase tremendously.
Big designers have decided to take advantage of this trend and design signature pieces that make a special style statement. Some of these brands are priced without regard to price. They start at thousands of dollars and go up to tens of thousands. Some people collect a number of pieces so they can match their fashion or mood of the moment. Some have collected drawers full of different styles.
Using watches as fashion accessories has become quite popular with stylish persons. Whether they are the sporty type, or more into designer styles, there is something for everyone. Businesses are making huge profits by meeting the demands for this trend. Vintage pieces and high profile designer styles are especially lucrative.
