Coin Collector Shows

by Sienna Nalin

Collectible coin shows are the best place to go to be able to invest in a coin. At a coin show you are able to physically touch and look at a coin to decide if you want to buy it or not. Take a look at these tips for how to go about a coin show and you should have success.

Most avid collectors feel that by far the best way to buy or sell coins is to regularly attend coin shows. Nothing beats holding the coin in your hand and giving it the eye! With that in mind, here are five tips to make your shows more worthwhile.

1. When going to a coin show you want to make sure that you have knowledge of your collection. By this I mean that you should know all that you have if you do plan on selling. You also should make a list of what you have in mind of buying so that you do not stray from that list. You must be very organized when going to a coin show.

2. With looking into purchasing coins when you go to a coin show, keep it down to two or three series. You do not want to go to a coin show and later get home and be mad that you invested your money in coins that you were not looking for in the first place. Stick to your list and do not drift.

3. Meet the dealers. Visit lots of dealers. Meet new ones. Shop not just for coins, but for dealers as well. Get to know a number of different dealers. At nearly every show there are dealers who may be from out of your area and can present you with new material that you may not have seen previously.

4. With collecting coins, it is about doing your research and not rushing into an investment. So when you go to a coin show, do not be afraid to ask questions and compare coins. You want to make sure that you are making a good investment before just buying the coin and being let down later. When I say compare coins, I mean from price to size to everything.

5. When going to a coin show as I said earlier, look for two or three series. Do not limit yourself to looking for just one coin. If you do that you will be let down and have wasted a day is that coin is not at the show. Have options so that you make something out of your coin show trip.
