Learning Tips To Help With Your Organic Gardening

by Belinda Norbert

Are you ready to begin with your own organic garden? Do you know where to start or how to begin with it? Do you know what products will work for your garden? If you have no clue how to answer these last couple of questions, the tips that are listed below are for you.

Make use of rain buckets and barrels around your home. You can later use this collected rainwater on your garden to grow healthier plants, while saving the planet. This method also reduces your water bill, as you can't be charged for using the water that runs off your roof!

When the vegetable season is over, grow a shoulder season crop if possible. Fruits like strawberries or raspberries bear fruit very early or very late in the season before or after the summer vegetable crops take over and can be planted. Raspberries can be planted to bear fruit in the fall and strawberries can be planted to bear fruit in the spring.

It may be helpful to let your plants begin their life in a pot and to transfer them to your garden when they're seedlings. Once the plant is hardy enough, plant it in your garden. Seeds can't always thrive in gardens, and are often eaten by birds. Once the fully matured plants are removed, the seedlings can be planted.

To treat damping-off fungus, use chamomile tea. Brew a batch of chamomile tea, let it cool and pour a generous amount around the base of the seedlings. Use a spray bottle for the stems and foliage of the plant and you will keep damping-off fungus from destroying your garden.

Don't try to remove low lying weeds by hand. Instead get a small shovel and flip them over so their leaves are under the dirt. You will kill the weed and the leaves will rot creating fresh mulch like material for you to use. It is green and nourishing for the other plants.

Make a plan for your garden. Use your seed packages to make fun markers that will remind you where each type of plant is growing. A good plan can also help you to place each plant in the area that is most beneficial to them.

Do you know how to begin your own organic garden now? Can you now find a place to begin with it? Do you know what will work for your seeds? If you can now provide an answer to these questions, then you have read and understood the previous tips and are ready to grow your own organic garden.
