How Do You Make A Digital Stamp

First you need to draw a sketch to make a digital stamp. Sketch digitally on the iPad or sketch on paper with a pencil. After sketching you need to ink your sketch. Outlining your sketch with a black marker or digitally is what inking is. A favorite app of mine to digitally ink in is Adobe Ideas. Inking gives a nice solid outline so people an color in the digital stamp image.

Second you want to either scan your image at 300 dpi if done on paper or email your ink from you iPad and bring into a editing program such as Photoshop. Here you can resize your image and save as jpeg file. You want your digital stamp to be at least 4x5 in size and sit in the middle of a 8.5 x11 document. Save and title your digital stamp and also put your company name, example (OwlDoodle-2cuteink.jpeg).

Create another digital stamp with a watermark to put in your digi shop. What is a definition of a watermark? A watermark is your company name with the ( c ) in front of it, example ( c ) 2cuteink. The watermark lets you see the image but prevents people from stealing your digital stamp. Create a new layer in Photoshop, put the opacity to 50% and type your information. Type your watermark information a few times to ensure the words go over the length of your image. Move this watermark layer above your digital stamp layer and now you have a watermarked digital stamp. Save your watermarked digital stamp as a jpeg like this, OwlDoodleCR-2cuteink.jpg.

Next, you upload your watermarked digital stamp in your shop. You can either create a shop on a site like Etsy and Art Fire or create a shopping cart through Godaddy. Etsy and Godaddy allow you to have an instant download shop, meaning the customer gets their digital stamp right away! You no longer have to manually send out each digital stamp by email. There will be a spot in both shopping carts , one to upload the watermarked digital stamp and one to upload the non-watermarked digital stamp.

Everyone can make their own digital stamp shop. Artists get royalties from companies that sell there work as digital stamps. Many artists are now starting their own shop vs getting royalties with companies. Making digital stamps requires no money, just lots of time and effort.
