The Potentially Televised Nature Of Adventure Racing

by Rob Sutter

Many individuals take part in adventure racing and there are reasons for this. Like any physical event that calls for a great deal of energy, people seem to love the feeling of adrenaline coursing through their bodies. Only then can they go about the actions they always want to and not care about whatever limitations that their bodies may have. It certainly sounds like a strong premise but is it one that could potentially make its way onto television on a basis which is more prominent?

Sports, on a more encompassing basis, are going to fulfill many different interests. For example, golf on television is not something that I would consider exciting. I'm not putting down anyone who enjoys it but it's simply not for me because it's not the kind of activity that I'd call thrilling. However, I know that each activity has an audience, so I cannot say that no one in the world is a spectator to it and this goes for just about any other physical event, too.

Many people watch sports because they want to kick up on techniques to utilize in a setting when they have to compete. Wrestlers, for examples, constantly watch tapes in order to see how opponents work in the ring and they study just about every movement to a science. They will be better able to predict when moves are done and works to reverse then whey are being attempted. This is just one example of why watching sports can prove useful for those who are physically able.

I think that adventure racing could hold its own if it were brought to the mainstream through television. Not only do I think that many individuals would like to watch it on TV but I think that those involved in each race could benefit. The actual names the likes of Spartan Race would be able to attain more attention on a wider basis, which is great. However, these individuals go through heavy levels of competition and knowing that others are supporting them should help them, too.

I believe that adventure racing can attract a great audience because of just how athletic it can truly be. Those who may not even be considered sporty can find themselves invested in this particular event, especially since it seems like adrenaline has become such a crucial element. To say whether or not it has a chance to be televised depends on just how many people would like to watch it. Seeing as how there are many positives in airing such spectacles, I hope that it eventually reaches a wider audience.
